Extreme worship is how I worship when no one is looking when it is just me and God. I don't have mega screens or misty fog in my home to produce an atmosphere of worship. I wouldn't want to wait until I went to church to be able to worship. I really liked how you summed this all up, Mary. Thanks so much for sharing this over at WholeHearted Home.Judith Kowleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13556208309928431416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8708060373541917366.post-26713503968673878902013-04-07T14:47:50.083-07:002013-04-07T14:47:50.083-07:00Hi Heather! What a true post. My husband is a worship pastor and we have recently moved from a contemporary church to a traditional church. What a gear shift, especially in "worship". We are used to the lights, fog machine, loud music, video streaming the words, etc... and it's very easy to get caught up in worship when you can't here yourself think. We have been at our "new church" (which is very old) for about 6 months and it has taken some time to get used to a different style. Our church is also "cross generational" meaning we have LOTS of older people and LOTS of younger people, and several in between... we also have 1 service. No "Traditional" service, no "contemporary" "late" service... we all worship together. Its a beautiful thing to see a 92 year old woman next to you worshiping through the same song, knowing her time with Jesus is so near. :) I also wrote a blog recently on that very VERSE you quoted. (I'll leave the link below) But, it just downed on me, at 30 that the verse says only to OFFER... God does with our life what he wills, he just wants us to lay it at his feet... even if it's doing the laundry for our families or being a missionary in an unreached land... we offer ourselves and our lives to him as our act of worship. http://wonderousblunderous.blogspot.com/2013/02/self-sacrifice-through-eyes-of.htmlHeather D. https://www.blogger.com/profile/13750167374936897149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8708060373541917366.post-22390024814510750002013-04-03T11:23:36.676-07:002013-04-03T11:23:36.676-07:00Bekah, we certainly need to keep our eyes and hear...Bekah, we certainly need to keep our eyes and hearts on the One who deserves a surrendered life of worship. Yes, these things are nice, but they aren't essential and it kind of makes me sad that some churches feel the need to "advertise" them. Music and media are wonderful but can distract into a false sense of worship if we aren't careful. For instance, why do hands only go up in the air when the song is at the loudest part? I don't see that often during a hymn, but then the bass and drums come in and suddenly everyone is closer to God in that moment. Gotta be careful.

Yikes...*steps off soapbox*Bekah Loves Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08144027421327457668noreply@blogger.com
