"Pleeease
give Mommy a minute." Oh, how I remember the
many times I said those words when my children were little...
When
I was trying to prepare dinner, and they would begin to wrestle over that one
Lego man (when there were 30 more in the bucket!). "Boys, please
give me a minute!"
When
I was trying to grab a quick shower and I would hear crying on the other side
of the shower curtain. "Honey, please
give Mommy a minute."
When
I was trying to put another load of clothes in the washer, and two little boys
would tug at my leg saying they really needed
a snack. "Boys, please give me a minute!"
Those precious minutes
that a mom needs...
Our sons have grown into wonderful men. I talk with them often.
But they live
across the country from us.
And sometimes...

When
I see the beautiful color-turned leaves, I’d love to have just a minute together to enjoy
them.
When
I’m taking a walk and see a goofy looking dog, I’d love just a minute to share
a good laugh.
When
I’m reading something that I know would be of interest, I’d love just
a minute to talk it over with them.
Those precious minutes
that a mom wants...
I
think now about the countless times that I go to the Lord throughout the
day...a continual dialogue really. I’m
thankful that, in His busy-ness, I’ve never heard Him sigh and say, “Mary, please
just give me a minute”.
I think about the many times...
He
would love to point out the beauty around me if I would only give Him a minute.
He
would love to take me to a deeper understanding of His rich word, if I would
only give Him a minute.
He
would love to heal that deep soul-hurt, If I would only give Him a minute.
Those precious minutes
that He yearns to spend with me...
I pray that I would be more awake to the sweet minutes
my heavenly Father wants to spend with me.
Those precious minutes...
"I
love the Lord because he hears and answers my prayers.
Because he bends down
and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath!"
Living in His grace!
Mary
I'd love to hear from you!

Oh, I loved reading this! Comparing our "please give me a minute" to our loving God longing for us to "give Him a minute". So true - and such a good reminder of how He longs for us to spend time with Him. (And thanks for your visit last week, and for your thoughtful comment left on my post "He Hears"!)
ReplyDeleteI know He longs for more of my minutes! Thank you Cherry for coming by today!
DeleteI have known God for years, but it has only been since becoming a mom that I can truly understand His love for us, because of the relationship you described above. I really enjoyed it, thank you for sharing!

ReplyDeleteThanks Denise! I'm glad you came by!
DeleteI like this post about how sometimes we just need a minute (whether a child or a mom) and how God loves when we give him a minute too.
ReplyDeleteTerra, those minutes are just so important, aren't they?! I'm so glad you came by. I'm on my way over to visit you!

DeleteBeautiful, Mary! My kids are in college now, but I remember those days WELL. Now that my nest is empty, I have a lot more time to take just a minute or two (or twenty!) to enjoy His presence. He is amazing.
ReplyDeleteLinking up from ICD,
Susan
Susan, I'm an empty-nester as well. I miss my guys like crazy, but it's so nice to have those extra minutes to spend in His sweet presence. I'm so glad you stopped by. I'm off to visit your site!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your correlations here! Beautifully written... and speaks to so much of life, doesn't it? Thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeletePam, thanks you for coming by and taking the time to leave a comment! I'm off to visit 'Apples of Gold'!
ReplyDeleteSo very true. Time flies by so quickly and it's hard to always grasp the minutes like we need to. I'm still in the mom stage and have my times when I "just need a minute", even though my kids are getting older and growing so quickly. I know how fast it's going by, and I still don't always savor it like I wish I would.
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for my Heavenly Father's consistent care!
Deborah, you're right... time goes by so quickly and our children grow so fast. I pray that we can 'savor' our time with our children and lose ourselves in our loving Father.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by!
Love the analogies in this post!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheryl! I'm so glad you came by!
ReplyDeleteEvery moment is precious spent with our loved ones, aren't they? And what a blessing that our Lord loves the time we intentially spend with Him! Thanks for the great reminder!
