Actually, I think God stomped
on the brake pedal
and said PAY ATTENTION TO THIS!
These are the questions I began to ask myself.
You just may want to ask them too!
►When you open your Bible, do you read with a
holy expectation, really believing
that He speaks to you through these written words?
►Do you tremble with reverence, believing that
the same Jesus who raised the dead, healed the sick, walked across water, died
and rose from the dead, is the same Jesus who is speaking to you through His
holy and powerful word?
►Do you realize the life-altering, life-giving
effect these words can have upon your life?
By asking these questions,
I’ve begun to approach His word with a
renewed passion, reverence, and anticipation.
I’ve begun to approach His word with a
renewed passion, reverence, and anticipation.
The next time you open your Bible to read the
Holy Spirit- inspired word, do so with a sense of
awe, reverence, and holy
expectation. God has something important
and life-changing to say to you.
It’s
time to tremble...
Where are you with this?
Do you approach His word with complacency or awe?

Mary,
ReplyDeleteThat is a thought-provoking question: Do I tremble in approaching my God??
Hmm, thanks for something to gnaw on this evening...
Have a great week.

Love this Mary; so enthusiastic! We are all expected to be zealously on fire for Him serving with all of our hearts in our service and in the witness of our faith, which is our response when He speaks to us through His Word. When we listen with a humble and trembling heart, it ignites the enthusiasm we have when we act and speak about our great love for Him! To be on fire is to burn with zeal for God with a desire to please and serve Him! :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love Mary,
Denise

Love that word "tremble," Mary. What a great visual reminder when we read the Word!
ReplyDeleteHi Meghan! God chooses great words, doesn't He?! The word 'tremble' has helped me immerse myself in His word with a new anticipation!:)
DeleteEnjoy your week trembling at His word!
Blessings and love ~ Mary
Oh that we might tremble at His thunderous voice, that we might be awe struck and taken back as He comes like a gentle breeze and whispers in our ear. Yes, that the God of the Universe speaks to us. That we hear His voice. Tht by this we know....we are children of God.
ReplyDeleteOh Jen, are we not so beyond blessed to know and hear from our God?! I'm overwhelmed that the Creator of the universe speaks to us today... because we are His.

Dear Mary
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you linked-up at Jen's too! What makes me tremble in awe, is the resurrected Lord Jesus living in me and me in Him! Mary, this is at times to much for my finite mind to comprehend and I can just thank Him with all my heart!
Much love
Mia
Mia, even as I say the words 'He is in me, and I in Him', I know that I understand very little of that 'impossible' reality. I am overwhelmed, humbled, and in awe that He would choose to indwell and commune with me. I always appreciate your comments...

Mary, thank you for posting this challenge today- it's so easy to get into a "routine" with my quiet times and forget the real meaning and purpose behind the words that I read. Great reminder today. :) Hope you have a blessed rest of your week!
ReplyDelete-Heather
Heather, that's exactly where I found myself... Routinely 'reading' His word, but not 'trembling' at His word. I'm so thankful that He is faithful to open our eyes!:)

A fear of the Lord is so deep inside of my it pains me to hurt Him in the least. I tremble at his name and tears fall almost the moment praise and worship begins at a church because I know I am home.
ReplyDeleteFawn, this is so beautifully said... I hear your heart.
DeleteThank you for coming by and sharing!

I think we are too often pressed for time and in rush and do not stop to be awe-struck by God's Word like we ought. I actually think many people who were privileged to live during the time of Jesus were not always awe-struck like they should have been. We need to intentionally draw near to Jesus and He will draw near to us. We need to take time to meditate on the wonderful creation and miracles.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary for linking this post over at WholeHearted Home this week.
Hi Judith! Making the time to sit and meditate on His awesome word is imperative! His word is the gateway to a rich, deep relationship with Him. Oh, how it makes me tremble!
