For Every Woman

Come, let's take a walk.
This is important.
Be sure to...
Notice the sun glimmering on the peaceful water. Feel the warm sand under your toes. Take in the beauty of the trees and the soft mist floating between the glorious hills…This is God’s handiwork.  He created every grain of sand, every drop of water, every leaf on every tree and every rock that forms each mountain.  He created the sun that so beautifully reflects off the water…all of these things are magnificent creations of God.

Now, I want you to place yourself in this picture.  It doesn’t matter how much you weigh, how old or young you are, or what your skills and accomplishments are.  It doesn’t matter one bit what kind of car you drive or the size of your home.  You are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for His purpose... To bring glory to Him.

Yes, His majestic mountains, rivers, oceans, and solar systems are incredible,
yet none can compare with you.
He didn’t create the mountains to commune with Him.
He didn’t create the rivers to talk with Him.

But you… You He created in His image.  And when you placed your trust in Him
as your Savior and Lord, by His shed blood, you were received as
His beloved ~ His precious daughter.
Nothing compares to you.
I know for some of you this isn’t difficult to accept and believe. But for some... Perhaps you struggle with insecurity. Perhaps growing up you never felt loved or affirmed and you’ve been searching for that all your life.  Perhaps you feel inadequate as a mom.  Perhaps you've never felt pretty enough, or accomplished enough, or good enough...

I’d like for you to close your eyes and sit  with this truth for a minute.
Let this wash over you...

You are far grander than the highest mountains and vast oceans.
You are His beloved, His precious daughter, His workmanship.
You are His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus.
Receive and embrace this as God’s truth.
It changes everything...
just for you.

"For we are God's masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus
so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."
Ephesians 2 :10 {NLT}

Do you truly believe you're a daughter of the King?
Or, do you struggle with feeling less than?
I'd love to hear from you.

  4. Dear Mary
I used to be one of those who found it difficult to believe in Pappa's love, but let me assure you that He will leave no stone unturned to show you the truth of His love. I love your description of us being created to walk with Him and commune with Him! Over via Jenn's. I am so excited about her travels in China.

  6. Thank you Mary! I have struggled all my life with feeling inadequate and less than, always seeking approval. Since realizing my place in Christ's heart as a daughter of God, I still need regular reminders of my worth in Him to keep old doubts from creeping back in.

  7. Mary,
Thanks for stopping by my blog - I'm happy to be following you back. Your words on this post are what every women needs to hear. I know that sometimes, as a mother, I feel inadequate, like I'm not doing enough...praying for them enough...playing with them enough...putting them around other children enough....Enough is enough, right?? LOL! Thanks for the gentle reminder of God's love for us all, no matter how much we fall short.

    XOXO,
    Meredith

    1. Meredith, I think momhood represents one of our biggest insecurities. It's such a strength and comfort to know that we are His workmanship in Christ... and that's not only enough, it's everything!

  11. I taught a similar lesson in my Sunday school class last month. I told the kids that God was an artist, and that our room was his gallery, because we are all his masterpieces! Love it!

  14. Love this post, Mary. Thank you so much for sharing it! Our pastor is doing a series now called "You'll Be Glad You Did". The first talk he gave two weeks ago was called "Label Makers" and talked about all of the different labels we wear that are not given to us by our Creator, yet we believe them to be true. Powerful words! If you want to check it out at some point, here's the link!
